On 14th March a group of 30 members of our families and support workers went on a residential weekend for two nights at Water Park Lakeland Adventure Centre, Ulverston.
The weekend proved to be a great opportunity for our families and support workers to spend quality time getting to know each other on an equal footing through a balanced program of activities whereby they could try out new experiences such as, sailing, canoeing, ghyll scrambling, climbing, caving, abseiling and walking.
These activities promoted team building and allowed children and their siblings to socialise with both their peers, and whilst children were in the care of NRG, it gave parents the opportunity to complete team challenges and spend quality time with other members of their family.
Families and staff all came together in an evening to join in with whole group activities.

‘A memorable time for me from the weekend was whilst ghyll scrambling. My group worked as a team supporting two of the children in getting right to the top of a ghyll which was 80 metres up. It involved a lot of hand holding to begin with which quickly turned into piggy back rides. The sense of achievement from the children and the group was lovely to see and there were a lot of similar stories shared when we got back to Waterpark’.
