We've been running Holiday Schemes for nearly a decade now, with many children returning year after year. We understand that meeting new people in unfamiliar surroundings can be daunting, especially for some children, so we make sure that all newcomers are made to feel really welcome from the moment they arrive. Trouble is. once they've settled, they may not want to leave. Parents are welcome to stay for a while or drop their children off and make the most of the free time...it's entirely up to you.
We offer three programmes to cater for different groups, details for which can be found by clicking on the links below. Our schemes are popular, so be sure to book early. If your child is attending for the first time, we'll need to know a little more about their likes and dislikes, behavioural triggers and such, so we ask all parents and carers to complete an enrolment form in as much detail as possible, beforehand. Needless to say, this information will be dealt with in strictest confidence, and helps us to provide the most appropriate support for each individual.
We guarantee that your child will receive genuine care consideration and support while in our charge. Programmes are engaging, accessible and inclusive, with activities devised to reflect the interests, energy and dynamism of each group, Sadly, we can't guarantee the weather, so alternative provision may be required on certain days. Fortunately, our staff are a very resourceful bunch, so there's never a dull moment, even on the dullest of days.
In addition to our regular outreach service, we provide an extensive programme of activities and events throughout the summer. Our Holiday Schemes are provided on behalf of Blackburn with Darwen Council, and are tailored specifically for youngsters with disabilities, special educational needs and children that are hard to reach.
Children have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of rewarding activities, creative pass-times, games and competitions, supported by a team of fully qualified and experienced staff. Half day sessions are based at The Galaxy Centre (see below) with scope for entertainment whatever the weather.
We also organize fully-escorted day trips to a variety of venues and places of interest around the region, where children are free to enjoy the surroundings, try their hand at something new, or chill-out, in good company, over a picnic lunch, assuming it's not Brolly weather
The Galaxy Centre, is situated close to the town centre, on the site of St. Michael with St. John Primary School. The purpose built centre is fully accessible, with a range of amenities, indoor and outdoor facilities and secure on-site parking. Click here for directions.
Feedback vs photos
We receive lots of feedback in our line of work and we take a genuine interest in hearing what parents have to say about they way we do things. For one, it's reassuring to know that we're getting certain things right, but equally important, from our point of view, is that it helps to pinpoint any areas in which we can improve. So rather than fill the space with eye-catching images, we thought we'd share some of the sentiments expressed by parents of children who've attended our schemes, past and present, to highlight some of the things we hope to achieve.

B has attended your scheme for four years now. We really appreciate the wonderful care, support and behaviour management he has received. Thankyou. This service is invaluable to us as a familiy
Because he's an only child and lives in a quiet area, he struggles socially. He rarely gets the chance to mix with children his own age. The holiday scheme allows him to socialise and develop in a safe, loving environment. His confidence always improves after one of your sessions
C is always happy when she knows that she'll be attending the holiday scheme and is keen to know when she can go again. The fact that staff are so willing and enthusiastic with the children encourages them to mix and engage with the activities provided
It can be very difficult to take S out due to his behaviour. NRG do a wonderful job. Every time he visits he comes home in a much calmer mood and sleeps well at night

The staff genuinely care and are more than capable of meeting my son's sometimes difficult behaviour. They bring out the best in my boy and I always have peace of mind when he's with them
We hope that the holiday scheme continues, not just for our benefit but for others. Sporting NRG has a fantastic reputation and their work and support helps so many people locally. F really feels like NRG are his extended family
It has given my daughter the opportunity to mix with children of a similar age. She thoroughly enjoys going which means her challenging behaviour is reduced on scheme days. She's free to be who she is rather than trying to conform to other people's expectations
The peace of mind knowing that my daughter is safe and having fun with Sporting NRG is absolutely priceless.......
