Climbing is becoming increasingly popular in the UK, largely due to the growing number of indoor facilities providing opportunities to climb, whatever the weather. As activities go, it offers tremendous potential for individuals to gain confidence, and develop skills, in a setting where advanced planning, problem-solving and determination play a key role. More specifically, climbing has been shown to improve balance, hand-eye co-ordination, motor control and spatial awareness, to say nothing of the genuine sense of personal achievement that awaits those who reach their goal.
Sporting NRG offers comprehensive instruction in both indoor and outdoor climbing, with sessions tailored to suit those with little or no previous experience. Children and young adults with disabilities will learn the essentials of rope work, techniques for ascending and descending and, of course, the code of conduct, to ensure everybody's safety. Taster sessions and one-off experience days can be arranged for both individuals and mixed ability groups, with full support from qualified coaching staff. Climbing is also one of the many activities we offer on our residential adventure weekends in the Lake District.
